Peptidci

Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “ufak tefek sindirilebilirler”) tanımlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine ilişkilanmasıyla oluşan kesik polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino hamız lafıntısı ile öbürü arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” veya peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]

Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (veya çok sayıda polipeptit madun birimi barındırır). Gerçek nüans peptitlerin kesik, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]

Protein sentezi sırasında her amino hamız, başka amino asite kadimî, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle ilişkilanır. Polipeptid mimarisına acımasızlan amino asitlerin her biri mimariya peptid ilişkilarıyla ilişkilanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu sırasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir akarsu çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]

Yaklaşık bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Aşina en uzun polipeptit, yaklaşık 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda bulunan “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine acımasızlan amino asitlere lafıntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki lafıntı, bağ yapmamış, boydak amino grubu barındırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin başka ucundaki boydak α-karboksil grubu olan lafıntıya C ucu adı verilir.
